July 19, 2012: LuAnn McLane Taps into Her Love of Baseball and Comedy with Pitch Perfect

KENTUCKY NATIVE LUANN MCLANE TAPS INTO HER LOVE OF BASEBALL AND COMEDY WITH PITCH PERFECT, THE THIRD NOVEL IN HER CRICKET CREEK SERIES, WHICH WILL BE RELEASED SEPTEMBER 4TH 2012

July 19th, 2012

“Writing about what you love has its perks,” says McLane about her September release, PITCH PERFECT, the third title in her Cricket Creek series set in her home state of Kentucky. “Research for the series has translated to watching lots of baseball and shopping in small towns, two of my favorite pastimes.”  The plot for PITCH PERFECT involves Mia Monroe, a misunderstood young woman who is trying to break away from her rich father and prove her self worth. Cameron Patrick, first baseman for the Cricket Creek Cougars, must stay out of trouble to keep his position on the team. Mia causes him fits from the moment he comes to her rescue, but she turns out to be the kind of trouble he needs!  “I enjoy writing stories about opposites who attract.  The bantering back and forth makes the writing fun.”

With the series extended from three books to six, McLane attributes the success to her readers connecting to the stories on a personal level. “Like everyone else, Cricket Creek is a town struggling in a down economy, but they band together as a community and refuse to throw in the towel. I wanted to write novels that people could relate to as if the stories were written about their lives. Readers tell me that they feel as if my characters are real people.”  She also chose the small town setting for the abundance of quirky characters giving the story a big dose of comedy.  “During tough times we all need to laugh.  For me love and laughter go hand in hand!”
